SO WHO IS COMMON GOOD COFFEE?

Common Good Coffee Roasters was founded by childhood friends Patrick Neal and Ryan Beagley-Reiner in San Diego, CA in 2015. The inspiration came from the simple desire to see truly good coffee become more common and to make coffee that worked for the good of everyone involved.

“We looked around us and saw that so many of the smaller, owner-operated cafes and restaurants were selling coffee severely lacking in flavor and uniqueness, and coffee that was almost always over-roasted.

On top of that, few people knew where their coffee came from and how the producers were compensated… I had been roasting at home and researching the coffee supply chain and thought, we can do this, let’s get these people better coffee.”

6AM Club Roast Is From Hondoras

Honduras is a wonderful place for harvesting coffee. The healthy soil and climate can yield a great tasting coffee. This particular lot is strictly grown at higher altitudes (SHG). The reason why this is good is because coffee grown at higher altitudes experiences a lower temperature and thus produces a slower, more maturing fruit. We have roasted this coffee with Silver Fox and their loyal patrons in mind. We hope you enjoy it.

Common Good Coffee works with specialty coffee importers and cooperatives to source quality, flavorful, and traceable coffee, that exceeds specialty coffee standards and brings a smile to your face. We roast in small-batches and dedicate the time and attention required to bring out the beautiful and unique flavors of each coffee’s origin. We hope you love it.

We Like It DARK

This particular blend was chosen by the owners of the Silver Fox Lounge. The request was for a coffee that could match a coffee that rhymes with : Peets major dickasons coffee. Anyway, a couple blind taste tests later and this was the winner. Enjoy Prawns!

WHAT ETHICAL COFFEE IS

CGC is committed to participating in an ethical supply-chain. We work with specialty coffee importers and cooperatives to ensure that all of our coffee producers are not only exceeding the quality standards of specialty coffee, but that their farming methods are ecologically sustainable and that they receive a living wage.

This is accomplished through partnerships with importers whom we have grown to trust over time and who provide transparency reports and specific details from each farm. Our coffee often has a certifications attached to it (Organic, Fair-Trade, Rain-Forest Alliance, etc) but these certifications can sometimes miss on the more complicated ethical and economical dynamics of the specialty coffee industry.

Because CGC is committed to coffee that is both specialty and ethical, we look first at the details of the farming and trading practices and to labels and certifications second.

Our coffee was finished roasting at 425 degrees for 5 minutes. That’s how precise we are making coffee as dark as your soul.
